Mindfulness (C.R.E.A.T.E.)

Consciously Realizing Every Attitude and Thought into Experience

The Phoenix Rising School’s approach to study and learning is holistic and integrative across all academic and creative disciplines. Our Kindergarten through Fifth Grade Mindfulness Program (C.R.E.A.T.E.) begins with the premise that each part is deeply related to the whole and therefore to all parts. Built on a thematic format that is aligned with the four seasons, our C.R.E.A.T.E. Program explores and supports the self as mindful observer and co-creator of its interior and exterior environments, and consists of four cornerstones:

1. MINDFULNESS – The Mindfulness component of our Program provides a conceptual framework which supports the application of Mindfulness Focus Techniques. Mindfulness instruction includes the use of The Hawn Foundation’s ‘MindUp’ program, a science-centric, evidence-based curriculum providing activities and an immersive discovery around topics such as Gratitude, Mindfulness, and Perspective Taking.

2. THE SCIENCE OF MINDFULNESS – Age-appropriate Science instruction as a foundation to the application of our Mindfulness Focus Techniques includes studies of:

  • Self as observer upon the quantum field
  • The Brain as the Self’s computer
  • Patterns: Exploring the templates of Nature

The program is designed to teach students to explore the untapped power of their focus!

3. MINDFULNESS TECHNIQUES: FOCUS IN ACTION – Armed with knowledge and hands-on scientific experimentation, Phoenix Rising offers students a remarkable opportunity to explore the untapped power of their focus by applying it to a diverse set of Mindfulness Techniques. These include:

  • Create Your Day® – mindfully and intentionally starting our school day
  • Traditional and Analogical Archery(SM) – focus on your target
  • Mindful Breathing exercises, including Consciousness & Energy® (C&E®)
  • Mindful Walks in nature and the Neighborhood Walk®
  • Various mindful games
  • Remote View exercises
  • And much more

4. SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL LEARNING (SEL) – the social and emotional component of our Mindfulness education includes competencies that guide students towards greater self-awareness, empathy, inspiring heart and mind, and helping students navigate the world more effectively. These competencies include:

  • Self-awareness
  • Self-management
  • Social Awareness
  • Relationship-skills
  • Responsible decision-making

By helping children to become more self-aware of their power, ability, and response-ability to be intentional about their choices, we support them in becoming more intentional creators and observers of their environment and their learning.
