The Arts

The goal of the art program at The Phoenix Rising School is to encourage and empower students to utilize their curiosity, intuition, and talent to build their artistic knowledge, abilities, and skills in order to express their own creativity.

Each student will be given a one hour scheduled art class each week, and the option of an additional 90 minutes of art workshop each week. During scheduled art class time students will be exposed to new mediums, techniques, processes, and art movements. They will have the opportunity to explore and perfect their artistic skills with instruction from an art educator.

Students will explore creative avenues by:

  • conceiving and developing new artistic ideas and work
  • performing, presenting, and producing artwork
  • Understanding and evaluating how the arts convey meaning
  • Relating artistic ideas and work with personal meaning and external context

Students will also learn about collaboration, cooperation, individual responsibility, personal style, and the usefulness of art. Craftsmanship, following directions, focus, and behavior are all touched upon during each art lesson, and throughout the school year. In the art program students will have the opportunity to take artwork home, have it published locally and possibly nationally, and to sell or market their work.

The art program at Phoenix Rising is extensive and multi-faceted.
